Weekend in Münster: Tatort-city!

I got home from Canada on Tuesday, but in Vancouver I had made up my mind: I’m going to Münster this weekend! With jetlag or without. So here are a few pictures of my weekend trip to this West-German city.

Compared to the Fairmont hotels in Vancouver, the Mercure Muenster City (which is a nice and decent hotel!) suddenly looked less pretty. “Where is the bubble bath with views of the harbour?!” “I actually have to put the room service tray outside the room myself?!” Pathetic, I know, but that’s how quickly you get used to pure luxury.

Münster City in Germany. Many Tatort Münster scenes were filmed here. For those of you who don't know: Tatort is an extremely popular German TV-series, a bit smilar to CSI in different cities. But Tatort was first! :-)

Highlights

Highlights of the two day stay in the city of Tatort… The German train-neighbour who actually waited for me to see if I managed to catch my train to Münster from Cologne (which I missed because of a delay in Aachen. I thought every German was punctual!) and then proceeded to guide me to the information desk to see when the next train would depart.

Police

The two German police officers at the station of Münster. I curiously asked if Münster was a criminal city. It turned out it was very peaceful compared to other big cities and on top of that it was the city with the happiest Germans, according to the Polizei, that is.

Anyway, definitely a city I can recommend for a short visit!
