Sometimes you just know that a movie is going to be fantastic and match your expectations, before you’ve even seen it. Run All Night, starring Liam Neeson and Ed Harris, belongs in this category. I loved every minute of it and if you’re a fan of decent action movies with a great cast, you will definitely agree! Here are 10 reasons to go and cartwheel your way to the nearest cinema…

Overall look and feel
It is night most of the time, obviously. It’s dark, it’s dangerous and the look and feel are just right for this type of gangster action movie. It really gets the adrenaline pumping!

Wondering what’s next
Danger is lurking on every corner for Liam’s character Jimmy Conlon and his son Michael, played by Joel Kinnaman. You will be perched on the edge of your seat all through the film, wondering where the next threat is coming from.

Vincent D’Onofrio
Vincent D’Onofrio is on a roll as the morose detective Harding, who has been chasing Jimmy rather unsuccessfully for over 25 years. Great casting.

The chemistry between both Liam Neeson and Joel Kinnaman, and Liam and Ed Harris is amazing. You can’t fake true chemistry and it translates perfectly onto the big screen.

Holt McCallany

Holt McCallany‘s character Frank is a total badass, who enjoys picking fights with Jimmy and probably loves terrorizing the neighbourhood. But can he beat him when it’s a matter of life or dead? No spoilers here, you just have to go and see for yourself! Read my interview with Holt McCallany here.

Car chase scene in New York
I can’t imagine the amount of work and logistics that goes into planning a car chase in downtown New York. It looked spectacular and really has you rooting for Jimmy to free his son Michael out of the police car!

Excellent fights
The fights in this movie look realistic and make me wonder if the actors managed to survive the filming process without a scratch! The actors, stuntmen and fight choreographers really did a great job on Run All Night.

Dynamic camera movements
Hardly ever a dull static shot in this movie. Some crazy, but good camera movements, nicely keeping the pace with the action filled plotline.

Santa Claus scene
For some reason seeing Liam Neeson acting all drunk and slightly out of order in front of women and children amuses me.

Liam Neeson
Last, but certainly not least! The actor from Northern Ireland is a joy to watch. Despite the fact he’s known for playing tough guy roles the past couple of years, he comes across as a genuine, sweet man, who truly cares for people. Every time he looks hurt in the movie, it makes you want to give him a big hug! Fantastic actor.
